When Quicken downloads a transaction from your bank account that matches the date and amount of a manually entered transaction, the downloaded transaction will match the manual transaction resulting in only one transaction in your account register. Your manually entered payee name, category, memos and tags will be retained. To add an account: At the bottom of the Account Bar list, click Add Account. Click Next to move through the pages. I use Quicken 2017 Premier, V R15.13 on my PC. I manually enter transactions, and match when I download them. Recently, this doesn't work in my American Express Credit card account. (It DOES work in all other accounts!). When I download and click on the downloaded transaction, instead of 'finding' the correct manual entry for me, I'm forced to click on 'Edit, manually match', then scroll to find the correct entry to match. As I said, Quicken will find the correct manual entry on four other accounts, but not on AMEX. Help!

Sorry you're experiencing this difficulty.
How different are the transactions that download versus how they are entered in the register?
Are the Payees different or the same?
When did this last work properly?
Let us know so we can assist you further!0 - edited March 2018Hi.
The transactions I enter manually are almost always the correct amount. The name of the payee may be slightly different on the downloaded transaction. This started about a week ago on the last update to Quicken software.
I keep my credit card receipts and enter them manually. Then, when I do a one step update I match them. In the past, I would highlight a downloaded transaction and Quicken would find its match, I’d click accept, and move on to the next one. Now, I have to click “edit”, then “match manually”, then scroll to find the match.
This only happens in my American Express account. Checking accounts, saving accounts, and other credit card account all work properly.
Thanks for any help.

- edited March 2018Doug, I also have the doubling problem with my Citibank acct and sometimes my personal checking account. I have an At&t Universal Card Master Card and also a Costco Visa both Citibank and they seem to intermingle with each other. A download will double the entries in my Costco card. I have been experiencing this for about two months. Every time I download i seem to get a double posting. I used to accept or reject transactions with my 2016 Quicken but don't seem to have that option in this 2018 version. I am totally Frustrated with thees events. Lately I have been reconciling more frequently so it doesn't get wieldly. Also, my reconciling is always adjusted positively or negatively when I balance

Thanks Walter. Just hoping Quicken will eventually give us a solution. I’ve used, depended on, and generally LIKED Quicken for YEARS! From time to time, however, it frustrates the hell out of me. Like Yahoo, actual help from the company itself is nearly non-existent.Doug, I also have the doubling problem with my Citibank acct and sometimes my personal checking account. Any progress on my issue? I’m still having to manually match entries in my AMEX credit card account. Would love a reply from Quicken as to a solution. - edited April 2018
Well, I guess I'll just have to fight this one on my own! It's been a month since I first posted the issue. I got a reply from Quicken Tyka, and I gave her all the info she asked for. Then .. silence! If anyone can help with my problem, please post. It's frustrating!Hello!!! Anyone??!! - edited April 2018
OK. Since I seem to be on my own with no support from Quicken, I have solved the issue. This morning, my One Step Update wouldn't work. I tried updating individual accounts with success on some. When I looked at AMEX credit card account, I noticed that they now can 'hook up' using Direct Connect instead of Express Web Direct. So .. I changed the method to Direct Connect and downloaded my transactions. Magically, the transactions now automatically match with manual entries when I highlight each transaction! So, I'm wondering why this wasn't submitted as a possible solution a month ago. But then, I wonder a lot about how Quicken responds! It's a real love/hate relationship!Hello!!! Anyone??!!
